Die walisische Hauptstadt Cardiff wurde als Austragungsort des 25. Menuhin Competition ausgewählt. Benannt nach dem Geigenvirtuosen Yehudi Menuhin sind zu diesem Violinwettbewerb nur Nachwuchsgeiger zugelassen, die nicht älter als 22 Jahre sind. Der Wettbewerb, der inzwischen international bekannte Violingrößen wie Tasmin Little oder Julia Fischer hervorgebracht hat, findet vom 11. bis 20. April an verschiedenen Austragungsorten wie dem Wales Millennium Centre oder der St. David’s Hall statt. Neben Konzerten gibt es auch viele Meisterklassen, Seminare, Matinées und Bildungsveranstaltungen für alle Altersgruppen. Im Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama sind seltene und wertvolle Geigen ausgestellt. Karten für diese Veranstaltung können im Internet bestellt werden.
